The Lakeland Terrier is one of the oldest working terrier breeds still known today.
They were originally called the Patterdale Terrier and were a cross between the Bedlington and the Old English Wirehaired Terrier in England's Lake District and recognized in England in 1921 and in the US in 1934. They used to hunt den animals i.e. badger, fox and otter. They like to track and they're a good watchdog.

These dogs are squarely proportioned and a solid dog that's similar to the Welsh Terrier but a little smaller. They come in various colors i.e. black, black/tan, reddish, red grizzle, wheat, liver/blue, grizzle and grizzle/tan. The dog may or may not have a saddle. They have a double coat-it's soft underneath, dense and wiry on the outside-often in tight waves. They shed little to no hair. They can be plucked or clilpped 2 to three times per year. They can be up to 14 1/2" at the shoulders and 15 to 17 lbs. as an adult. They're a very hardy breed. They're quite active and need exercise.
They'll generally live to be about 10-12 years but have been known to live till age 16 already.

Lakelands are cheerful, affectionate, energetic and loving. They're a little more feisty and more determined than the Welsh Terrier. They're courageous, alert, confident and friendly and they love children. They need a firm hand in training. They learn very quickly and surprisingly they like other dogs. If they're socialized while young with cats and other animals, they won't chase them when they're older.

If shipping is required, it will include freight charge, an airline approved dog crate, insurance, a USDA health certificate from our veterinarian, a doggy bone, a small bag of dog food attached to the top of the kennel (we want you to keep your puppy on our food for 2 days and then start blending it with yours after that) and also paperwork.
